Low Temperature
Refrigeration systems
Low temperature refrigeration is the
range of temperatures falling below what is normally
regarded as industrial refrigeration, and above the
temperatures associated with the field of cryogenics.
This range of temperatures includes
applications for food, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals
processing. It is also used in the petroleum and chemical
industries as laboratory environmental chambers.
The size and type of equipment used varies from small low temperature environmental chambers of only a few horsepower (kW) to large custom-designed and often field-erected systems ranging to several hundred horsepower (kW).
The large units use a combination of one, two or more refrigerants in open cascade arrangements to obtain the desired low temperature.
Voltas has long been a pioneer in
process cooling and Low Temperature Refrigeration, with
decades of experience in system design and project management,
coupled with superior after sales services.
Voltas caters to nearly every industry
for their water and brine (sub-zero) chilling applications.
These systems use energy efficient compressors (reciprocating
/ screw) with compatible, high performance condensers
and chillers. They can be supplied with the most optimum
refrigerant, including ammonia.
Voltas provides:

Pre-Cooling
and Cold Storage systems for fruits and vegetables
- Post-harvest technology is vital for maintaining
the quality of fruits & vegetables.
- Pre-cooling within the shortest time regulates
rate of deterioration of post-harvest produce.
- Voltas-designed systems offer you the right
temperature and humidity required for a variety
of fruits and vegetables.
- Voltas-engineered cold room solutions offer
greater export/domestic potential through better
value realization, in addition to enhancing
the shelf life and quality of the produce, thus
ensuring maximum gain for the farmer / exporter.

For
dairy applications
- Voltas Ice Bank systems are a natural choice
for milk chilling applications. The process
also enhances the quality and shelf life of
milk.
- In addition our systems can handle any storage
requirements of dairy by-products such as butter
and cheese. The temperature conditions are maintained
for each product as desirable.

For
ice cream
- For ice creams, Voltas systems are designed
to utilize the optimal blast freezers or hardening
chambers, to ensure cooling of the product in
the shortest time and storage at the desired
temperature levels.
- Voltas has a large range of systems to cater
to any needs of dairy and ice-cream industries.
Optional features include a large central plant,
modular condensing units, and alternative refrigerants.

For
pharmaceuticals
- Storage of raw materials in the warehouses at 2-8°C temperature.
- Storage of medicine, vaccines in deep freezers at sub zero temperature.
|
For
flowers and mushrooms
- Pre-cooling of flowers after picking and proper
cold storage prevents drooping, ensures lasting
freshness and commands a premium in the domestic/
export market.
- The right temperature and relative humidity
in mushroom-growing areas ensures longer shelf
life and better price realisation.

For
fisheries, meat and poultry
- The long Indian coastline offers a variety
of opportunities for the fisheries sector. Voltas
has a variety of equipment and systems to cater
to the needs of this industry such as Flake
Ice Plants, Individual Quick Freezers (IQF)
and Blast Freezers.
- Voltas can provide modular/ central plant
refrigeration systems for processing of marine
life, as well as equipment needed for slaughterhouses,
including blast freezers and cold storages.
