| Voltas supports youth of Assam
Voltas,
as part of its Corporate Sustainability
efforts, has undertaken the responsibility
of providing backward-class youth in Assam
with a means of livelihood. This is in conjunction
with Tata Group's initiative of creating
employability amongst the youth of Assam.
Voltas
has successfully imparted training in Air
conditioning and Refrigeration to 10 young
beneficiaries, at the Joseph Cardijn Technical
School, with which Voltas has a tie-up,
and was the venue of the felicitation programme
in December 2007.
Speakers
at the programme reaffirmed that the commitment
to the development of a strong self-reliant
community has always been part of the Tata
Business Process. Voltas culture has consciously
promoted Corporate Sustainability, with
mutual encouragement and teamwork towards
improving the quality of life, not only
of employees but also of those less privileged.
This is the thinking that has gone into
Voltas' partnering with the Joseph Cardijn
Institute for vocational training.
Fr. Felix
D'Souza, Director of the Joseph Cardijn
Institute, in his address said that great
things happenwhen a corporate giant like
Voltas joins hands with a Vocational Technical
Training School like Joseph Cardijn; 144
students have successfully completed the
training programme and benefitted from it.
