Expanding excellence
Voltas continues to
grow internationally - and establish itself
domestically - in electro-mechanical projects

In Voltas' drive to excel as a provider of total engineering services and solutions,
a dramatically significant step occurred on
1st April, 2001. This was when the erstwhile
Voltas International Limited, hitherto a subsidiary,
merged with Voltas Limited.
Continuing as Electrical,
Mechanical and HVAC Projects & Services,
an exceptional corps of engineers and project
managers swelled the ranks of Voltas expertise,
bringing with them 19 years of experience
in electro-mechanical projects of global
standards and scale. That's a finely-honed
capability which will soon be impacting
on India too. As requirements for Indian
projects become more complex and demanding
in quality and scope, who would be better
suited to deliver?

Making a mark on the map
In its 19 years of operation in this field,
Voltas has executed a multitude of highly
successful integrated electro-mechanical contracts,
in the Middle Eastern market, in the former
USSR, and several other countries. Meanwhile,
joint ventures have been set up in UAE, Saudi
Arabia and Oman, drawing strongly upon the
company's technical and managerial resources
- and of course its record.
That roster of prestigious
projects spans airports, hospitals, hotels
and convention centres, technoparks, research
and training centres, defence establishments,
district cooling plants, commercial complexes,
palaces, townships, railway complexes and
embassies. Voltas has undertaken detailed
engineering, and then procured, installed,
tested and commissioned a variety of equipment
related to heating, ventilation and air
conditioning, electrical, public health,
fire-fighting, integrated building management
systems and specialised systems.

A recent triumph was the engineering, supply, installation and testing of the
air conditioning, electrical and hydraulic
systems at Hongkong's Chek Lap Kok airport,
valued at US$ 60 million. Another milestone
was the Rs 962 million Abu Dhabi World Trade
Centre project, covering the entire electrical
contract for phase 1.
Bringing expertise home
Voltas' long-established overseas reputation
in this sector - for meeting demanding quality
parameters under severe time constraints
- will now be proven yet again within India's
borders, in large integrated projects. It's
an endeavour in which Voltas' skills as
a total project manager will be an asset
hard to beat. Its skilled and dedicated
pool of experts will be deployed in electro-mechanical
projects of considerable size and scope...and
more.

That 'more' includes infrastructure projects (such as metro power plants), large
water supply projects, airports, as well as
industrial projects like petrochemical refineries,
cement plants and sugar factories. Voltas
will also participate in the new concept of
district cooling envisioned by bulk consumers
of utilities on a 'build, own and operate'
basis.
Spreading its wings
As a customer-driven enterprise, Voltas'
electro-mechanical business constantly adapts
and moulds itself to market requirements.
This process entails identifying, developing
and forming strategic alliances and consortiums
for technology upgradation, activity capabilities,
and achieving competitive advantages. It's
a collaborative approach which will naturally
embrace Voltas' other businesses, principally
water management.

It won't be long before the nation feels the impact of this paradigm shift - from exceptional skills in electro-mechanical projects, to excellence extended to a larger spectrum of fields and applications.
