Engine

Suitable water cooled direct injection diesel engine of adequate capacity with dry type heavy duty air cleaner with paper elements and restriction indicator provided .

Drive axle

Power is transmitted to the drive wheels through a hypoid ring gear and pinion incorporating 4 pinion differential assembly and planetary gears on the drive wheel to provide extra torque. Axle shafts are full floating type. Wheels are mounted on heavy duty adjustable taper roller bearings and sealed against ingress of dirt and water.

Transmission

Dual range power shift transmission with constant mesh gearing provides 2 forward and 2 reverse speeds. Torque convertor multiplies engine torque 2.86 : 1. Direction control and range selections are affected by a feather touch electric shift lever mounted on the steering column. Inching/brake pedals provides fine inching control.

Steer axle

Hydrostatic power steering provides smooth, responsive steering wheel control, minimizes road shocks on the steering wheel, eliminates mechanical linkages. Articulating steering axle incorporates integral balanced, single hydraulic steer cylinder protected by high mounting location to give equal ratio in both directions. The steer axle is of fabricated type with no track and tie rod ends.

Mast, carriage and forks

High visibility mast provides outstanding forward vision. The mast is constructed with nested beams. Two single acting cylinders are located behind the mast beams. Roller pressures are minimized through the use of widely spaced full face load rollers. Lowering speeds are controlled by integral valve in the hoist cylinder base. Bar type carriage provides high strength and easy fork adjustments. Forks are heat treated, forged steel.

Brakes

Duoservo hydraulic brakes are self adjusting and self energising. Brakes are directly on drive wheels and are power assisted by a pneumatic-hydromaster booster unit for high braking force and low pedal effort. Cowl mounted and operated parking brake is easily adjustable from operator's seat.

Hydraulic system and controls

A large size 100 litres hydraulic tank is fitted with a breather to prevent contamination of the system. Vane type direct driven tandem hydraulic pump is mounted on the transmission housing. Relief valve protects system against excessive pressures from overload. System is continuously purified by intake suction and return line filters.

Frame

The frame is fabricated of heavy plate steel, electrically welded into a rigid unit structure. Hood and side doors are hinged for full engine accessibility.
