Engine
A four cylinder direct injection
type diesel engine, with adequate power, is used.
Air filtration is done through a large cyclone
dry type air cleaner with a replaceable paper
element. The air cleaner is located close to the
air intake manifold using a short rubber hose.
A vertical exhaust system is
a standard feature and uses a stainless steel
bellow and a short steel pipe. The exposed portions
of the muffler and the steel pipe are adequately
guarded, using a steel wire mesh enclosure that
is matched to the aesthetics of the truck.
An exhaust gas purifier or spark
arrestor is available as an optional accessory.
The engine cooling system consists
of a cross flow radiator incorporating a fan shroud
and a pusher type fan as standard features. A
pressurized sealed cooling system with coolant
recovery reservoir with a transparent level check
can be provided as an optional feature. The transmission
oil cooling is done through an independent air
cooled heat exchanger, mounted behind the radiator
and cooled by the same pusher fan. This system
prevents mixing of water in the transmission oil.
Transaxle
(optional)
The truck is equipped with a
world class transaxle (combined transmission and
drive axle) - making the drive unit compact. The
transaxle is a fully automatic transmission and
uses a torque convertor which has been matched
to the engine characteristics using a computer
programme. The transaxle provides steplessly variable
torque multiplication for meeting all the specified
load and road conditions. The truck performance
is achieved using only a single speed forward
and reverse operation. Gear shifting is done electrically,
using an effortless shift lever mounted on the
steering column. The hydraulic inching and soft
plugging are standard features provided on the
truck for easy manoeuverability. The transmission
design incorporates integral charge pump and piping.
A neutral gear start is a standard safety feature
which prevents accidental truck movement at the
time of starting. The drive axle shafts are fully
floating to ensure long life and to facilitate
shock loading.
Brakes
The truck features large size
heavy duty duo-servo brakes, which form an integral
part of the transaxle. These are self energizing,
self adjusting and use asbestos-free linings.
It includes a hand-operated
parking brake, that independently actuates the
brake shoes and is capable of holding the truck
on a 15% gradient with rated load.
Fluid
coupling transmission (FC) (standard)
The fluid coupling drive (exclusive
fluid coupling) between engine and clutch, provides
cushioned drive without metal to metal contact.
Starting slip takes place in coupling, greatly
prolonging clutch life. Coupling eliminates the
use of clutch pedal when stopping and starting.
Two speeds forward and reverse
provide the full range of torque requirements.
The floor mounted gear shifter stick eliminates
complicated linkages and wear points.
The one piece axle housing employs
hypoid ring gear and pinion. A 4-pinion differential
transmits power smoothly through the involute
spline full floating drive shafts. The rugged
pinion design withstands the stresses of repeated
tight turns. All gears operate in a common oil
bath.
Mast,
carriage & forks
Superior design supported by
special welding process rsults in highly durable
Masts which last through the life of Forklifts.
Standard High Visibility Mast is used in general
purpose applications. Hi-lo Mast or High visibility
triplex Masts with Full Free lift are available
for special applications such as container stuffing/destuffing,
High Stacking, etc. all these Masts are fitted
with high visibility carriages for excellent visibility.
Forks are of world class quality and conform to
ISO standards.
Steer
axle
The axle body is fabricated
from steel plates for durability and strength.
The axle is supported in the frame by using hardened
steel bushings for providing the required articulation.
The integrated balanced power cylinder is well
protected inside the axle body. The axle assembly
is made by using plain pin joints for ease of
maintenance, obviating the need for expensive
and maintenance-prone rod ends.
Hydrostatic
power steering
The hydrostatic power steering
provides a finger touch, smooth and effortless
steering. The load sensing system saves power
by metering the quantity of hydraulic oil, only
when needed, giving priority for steering operation.
Steering is possible during engine failure for
towing the truck to safe parking / workshop..
Frame
The frame is designed using
computer-aided modelling and optimized by using
finite element analysis techniques. It is made
from heavy steel plates using a flux cored arc
welding process, ensuring excellent quality welds.
Instrumentation
The standard five gauge instrument
cluster is housed in an FRP panel enclosure and
is ergonomically placed for the driver's convenience.
It contains electrically operated fuel, oil pressure,
water temperature, ammeter and engine hourmeter
gauges. Lighting switches and indicator lamp for
battery charging are integrated in the instrument
panel. All the gauges are illuminated for night
driving.
