The modernisers and mechanisers
Voltas' Mining & Construction Equipment
(M&CE) has been advancing the nation's mechanization
drive right from the earliest days of this national
thrust, in the 1950s. Over the years, M&CE has played
a crucial role in bringing the world's most advanced
technologies into the core and infrastructure sectors.
In the process, M&CE represents world-reputed firms like P&H, USA; Terex Mining, USA; Terex, Switzerland; Letourneau Inc, Australia; BL-Pegson, UK; Cederapids, USA; Powerscreen, UK; Hyundai, Korea; and Dressta, Europe / USA.
The engineering edge
Today, leading companies in both private and public
sectors look to M&CE for support - testimony to the
technological expertise the business commands. Right
from the pre-tendering stage, Voltas teams are on the
spot, gauging requirements, recommending the most suitable
products and sourcing the requirements from its array
of prestigious principals around the world. 90% of the
team on the job are engineers.
And so it should be. Massive and complex equipment of this nature needs advanced technical attention. Engineering teams from both Voltas and the manufacturers are always on site, supervising the commissioning, and providing constant after-sales service. Working in close partnership with the customer, the objective is to achieve minimum or zero downtime, so that important national projects forge ahead on track and on time.
Committed expertise
Such single-minded commitment manifests itself in set-ups like the P&H Product Support Centre in Kolkata, which exclusively handles P&H electric mining equipment. This group has undertaken to uphold a maintenance contract for 90% equipment availability. Expertise is shared and imparted through customer training programmes, held throughout the year at the mine sites as well as the principal's works.
