Voltas’ Q2 Sales up by 29%, Operating Profit up by 28%, Net Profit up by 16%
The Board of Directors of Voltas Limited, a global air conditioning and engineering services provider of the Tata Group, have today announced the Unaudited Financial Results including the Segment Report, for the quarter and half year ended 30th September, 2008.

Highlights for the quarter ended September 30, 2008

  • Sales/Income from Operations at Rs.931 crores, up by 29%
  • Operating Profit at Rs.89 crores, up by 28%
  • Profit after Tax at Rs.62 crores up by 16%
  • EPS at Rs.1.88 on face value of Re.1 (not annualized

  • Sales/Income from Operations at Rs.1948 crores, up by 25%
  • Operating Profit at Rs.192 crores, up by 30%
  • Profit after Tax at Rs.147 crores up by 39%
  • EPS at Rs.4.45 on face value of Re.1 (not annualized)
Quarter ended September 30, 2008
The Company’s Sales / Income from Operations rose by 29% to Rs.931 crores, as against Rs.722 crores in the same period last year. Operating Profit (Profit before Tax and Exceptional Income/(Expenses)) increased by 28% to Rs.89 crores as against Rs.69 crores in the same period last year. Profit after Tax increased by 16% to Rs.62 crores, as compared to Rs.53 crores in the same period last year.

The Company’s Electro-mechanical Projects and Services segment’s revenues grew by 40%. The Order Book of this segment stands at Rs.5575 crores, registering a growth of 107%.

The Engineering Products and Services segment’s revenues grew by 21%, despite a slow down in demand for capital equipment. Mining & Construction Equipment business achieved 40% growth in sales, over the corresponding period, last year.

The Unitary Cooling Products for Comfort and Commercial Use segment’s revenues grew by 7% during the second quarter.

Six months ended September 30, 2008
The Company’s Sales/ Income from Operations grew by 25% to Rs.1948 crores as against Rs.1556 crores in the corresponding period last year. Operating Profit (Profit before Tax and Exceptional Income/(Expenses)) rose by 30% to Rs.192 crores as against Rs.147 crores in the same period last year. Profit after Tax rose by 39% to Rs.147 crores compared to Rs.106 crores in the same period last year. Earnings per share (EPS) was Rs.4.45 on face value of Re.1 per share (not annualized).
