India's apex HVAC body elects Voltas officer as President
A senior official from Voltas has been appointed national President of ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Airconditioning Engineers), the apex professional body in the field.
The honour fell to M P Agarwal, General Manager – Products in Voltas' Electro-Mechanical & Refrigeration (EM&R) business division. Many from Voltas have previously led ISHRAE at Chapter and Zonal levels; this is the first time a Voltasite is leading the organization at an all-India level.
Founded in 1981, ISHRAE has 34 independent chapters and sub-chapters all over India, and a membership of over 7500, as well as over 3400 student members. The Society is an international associate of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Airconditioning Engineeers (ASHRAE), USA, whose 50,000 members are spread across the globe.
In 2009-10, ISHRAE has committed itself to pursuing programmes and projects in four thrust areas: 1 food preservation 2 energy efficiency 3 environmental sustainability 4 learning. It will also be partnered with IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) in spreading the message of the benefits of sustainable development. With its objectives presently so consonant with Voltas' own, there could be no better time for a Voltasite to lead in these valuable tasks.
