A winning bid for India’s first ‘net zero’ building
The company has been awarded the HVAC contract for the under-construction Paryavaran Bhawan in Delhi, which is projected for LEED Platinum rating.
The building will house the HQ of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, and features a slew of eco-conscious and energy-saving measures to achieve net-zero energy consumption as well as a zero-carbon footprint.
The scope of work includes two water-cooled screw chillers of 240 TR, with Variable Frequency Drives and high-efficiency performance. Voltas will also participate in carrying out energy-modeling for the HVAC set-up, to achieve net-zero energy usage.
Other progressive green features include a geothermal energy system, 545 chilled beams, and Variable Air Volume boxes, as well as energy-saving insulation and control systems.
As a significant ‘first’ both for the nation and for Voltas, the Paryawaran Building will certainly showcase the eco-friendly and energy-saving technologies that are increasingly driving the company’s growth.
