Voltas’ Key Role in Central Market Project, Abu Dhabi

| Abu Dhabi’s historic Central Market is to be transformed into a dynamic new quarter with markets, shops, offices, apartments and hotels |
Voltas will be playing a key role in this transformation, as the company has been awarded the Central Market Project T2 & T3 Towers, by the main contractor Arabian Construction Company LLC, on behalf of the client Aldar Properties PJSC.
Voltas’ scope of work covers the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the complete MEP systems for the two skyscrapers. The project completion is 26 months.
The taller building, T2 – the Central Market Residential Tower, is set to become the tallest building in Abu Dhabi upon its completion in 2012. As the skyscraper with the most floors in the city, this residential building will stand 374 metres (1,227 ft) tall, with 88 floors and a total built up area of 143,118 sq m.
The office tower T3, the Central Market Commercial Tower, is planned to rise to 280 m (919 ft) and will have 60 floors with a total built up area of 132,326 sq m.
Some of the major MEP equipment to be supplied, installed, tested and commissioned in this project includes:
HVAC : FCUs–6600 units; AHUs – 68 units; Plate Heat Exchangers – 28 units; Ducting and piping works.
Electrical : Transformers – 21 units; MV Switchgear – 16 units; LV Switchgear – 1580 units; Light Fixtures- 78,500 units.
Public Health Systems : Booster Pump sets – 10 units; Water Heaters – 833 units; hot and cold water supply copper pipe work and fire fighting system. |
