|Voltas surges into rural electrification
Voltas has seized a large-scale rural project for electrification of villages in two districts of Madhya Pradesh: a Rs 104-crore order from the Madhya Pradesh Poorva Vidyut Vitaran Co Ltd (MPPVVC) a major power distribution company. The order comes on the heels of a previous Rs 135-crore contract, also from MPPVVC, for electrification of villages in 3 districts in the state.
With these contracts, DPG strengthens its position in this sector, opening the doors to many more such opportunities in the future, since huge investments are being envisaged in electrical infrastructure under the 12th Five Year Plan.
The project encompasses two separate contracts for electrification of 2000 villages, by drawing 11 kV lines from tapping points provided by the client. This will be distributed to households below the poverty line; they will also be supplied with service connections and all required materials.
Some project highlights:
a) Execution time-line 24 months from date of signing
